An Open Letter To My Facebook Friends

My name is The Aussie Hausfrau and I'm a facebookaholic

Well, I was.

Actually I probably still am but lately, quite frankly, there's something happening on facebook that's pissing me off!

I joined facebook on the 19th August 2007. Yeah I was a late starter. Embarrassed to admit it but I was a My Space lover and took a while to switch. Don't judge me!

I've seen so many changes, some good, some not so good.

But there is one major thing that I'm hating on at the moment.. I've even been avoiding my personal* account and just using facebook for my blogs page (and if you know me, you'd know just how big of a deal that is! Before starting my blog I facebooked EVERYTHING EVERYWHERE!)

But now every freaking time I view my personal home page I see things that my friends are doing that just makes my blood boil and it's time to vent...

Ahem *clearing throat*

Dear facebook friends....

STOP LIKING ALL THOSE STUPID FREAKING PHOTOS AND LINKS AND SHIT!

Nobody, especially facebook will donate $1 if you like the photo of that sick little child.
$5 will NOT be donated if you share the photo.
You are NOT going to hell if you ignore the photo.

Clicking like on a photo will NOT send a prayer to that person

These photos have all been posted without the permission of the owner with the soul purpose of getting likes and circulating photos that really shouldn't be circulated.

Unfortunately good hearted people like yourself are sucked into these scams by thinking that they are helping. You are not helping the poor child in the photo. You are helping the freaks who circulate them.

While we're on the subject;

Woolworths and Coles are NOT giving you $500 if you share the link and "thank them". That isn't really Woolies or Coles advertising those things.

Clicking on a link or photo will NOT win you a free iPod, iPhone, holiday, voucher or computer.

There is NO dislike button.

You can NOT see who is viewing your profile doesn't matter how many "click here to view who is viewing your profile" links you click on.

Lastly, that celebrity who you think died, again, for the 4th time this year, did NOT die. Jackie Chan, Morgan Freeman, Paul McCartney and Jeff Goldblum ARE alive.

I know that you are generally a smart, kind hearted person who thinks you are doing the right thing, but you're not. Please stop. Stop ruining my facebook experience. Just stop.

or at least check for verification of a hoax first. Facecrooks is a good place to start.

I was able to turn off your silly game notifications but I can't turn this off unless I unfriend you.

Kind regards
Your disgruntled facebook friend.

Do you have facebook friends who annoy you with these type of things too? Does it annoy you too? Sure as hell annoys me!! Grrrrrrrrr

Thanks for listening. Big girl panties are back on nice and tight now.

*This is purely a bitch about my personal facebook friends - not my facebook page followers - you guys are awesome! xx

It Seems My Dishwasher Has No Idea What It's Doing!

Clearly my dishwasher is confused.

I don't think it knows what it wants.

You may remember my whinging complaining ramblings awesome story last week about my dishwasher and its cry for help? No? Best you go back and read about it then. Here it is right here. Off you go, I'll wait for you....

Caught up? Good.

So, last week my dishwasher put out a cry for help. It was beeping and flashing F1. In the computer world thats "HELP!". In dishwasher world it means "get a mop!! I'm about to flood myself!"

But it was an attention seeking cry for help as there was no flood. Not a drop of water.
This wasn't the first time the dishwasher was seeking attention and quite frankly I want a new one so on Saturday Mr Hausfrau and myself headed off to Harvey Norman to investigate a replacement and how much hard earned money we'd need to part with.

Found one - German of course.

Just need to work out how we are paying for it.

But I think the current dishwasher had caught wind of the possible new replacement as no further complaints were made.

Until today.

Half way through a full load this happens

Aparently U1 means "no water"

WTF dishwasher??? Make up your mind! Is it too much water and you're gonna flood or you're not getting enough water????

I've had enough!! The dishwasher clearly has a problem. We're off to Harvey Norman this weekend to pick up the new one.

Or maybe I could just employ the dog to do it?

The things that happened while I stayed in bed for 36 hours that I want to complain about but I feel bad for wanting to complain about

So Fathers Day in our house turned into an afternoon about me instead of Mr Hausfrau. While trying to help move Random Boys bike out of our garage I felt pain tear across my back and I was down for the count!

Mr Hausfrau put me in a bear hug and vertically carried me to bed where I stayed until 7am this morning when I could finally walk, stagger, hobble like a little old lady.

I even needed to be carried to the toilet. If I ever needed a reminder about just how much Mr Hausfrau loves me it would be him carrying me to the loo and helping to support me while I tinkled. Yes that's right, love is...helping your wife tinkle.

So I got to spend more than 36 hours in bed and not feel guilty about a damn thing. Not a damn single thing!

But then...

... I got up this morning and realised that I now have double the work to do. I mean, Mr Hausfrau did a fantastic job looking after me yesterday. He got the kids ready for school. He served me breakfast, lunch and dinner in bed. Bought me drinks. Set me up with my laptop and everything I needed to stay sane. Pretty much waited on me hand and foot. I really can't complain about anything (and I shouldn't especially since he helped me tinkle) so let's word it a different way.

The things that happened while I stayed in bed for 36 hours that I want to complain about but I feel bad for wanting to complain about.

  • The electric frypan from Sunday's Fathers Day brekky pancakes was still on the bench this morning. Dirty. According to Mr Hausfrau, "if it doesn't fit into the dishwasher it doesn't get washed".
  • If I'm not around to chastise the kids and remind them what to do, things get messy. Very messy. Food wrappers found scattered in the kids lounge room for instance.
  • Last nights dishes were waiting patiently for me to do them this morning. Awesome! Just what I wanted to do!
  • The dirty clothes basket piled up quick. A little too quick. Surely he could do a load of his work shirts.
  • Mr Hausfrau complained that there was stuff on the ironing board when he had to iron his own shirt this morning. "Geez honey, I'm sorry for not ironing your shirts. I guess I could have done them from bed". Bad Hausfrau, Bad!
  • I was left with a teensy weensy amount of milk for my morning cuppa. Apparently no one could walk the 10ft to the freezer to grab out a frozen one to defrost.

But I really shouldn't complain. He did do a fantastic job of looking after ME and that's all the matters right? Right??

Ok, my undeserving bitch about Mr Hausfrau is over. I'm hitching up my big girl panties, popping another painkiller and heading off to do nothing.

 Absolutely nothing!

I'm sure it'll all be waiting for me when I'm ready.

For the record Mr Hausfrau is very self sufficient. He can cook. He can cook very well. In fact he used to get paid to cook. Paid a lot. He can iron his own shirts. He enjoys telling me that he irons better than me. Pfft. As if. I just normally do all of these things as we chose that he would be the bringer of the bacon and I would stay home and cook it.
