Fitness Freak Friday - Week 12 - The one where I'm considering a week off...

Two rest days this week. TWO!! ZWEI! (That's 2 in German)

Slacker!

I read somewhere once that after 6 weeks of training you should take 1 week off....

Not sure how I'd cope with that!

Been super busy with the start of footy season as I'm Team Manager for PrincessBF's team this year. Who knew the role of Team Manager had so many duties!

I've stepped up my fundraising campaign for THE RIDE TO CONQUER CANCER and the footy club have a donation tin at the canteen for game days as well as kicking in $300!! Woohoo!! Thanks Belmont Bombers!!

So anyhoo, this is what this slacker did this week!

Friday
Took the day off and felt like a big slacker!

Saturday
20 min fartlek run
20 min elliptical
20 min bike ride

Sunday
Sunday rides with Mr Hausfrau are back baby!
Today we went a different route and rode around the 3 bridges of the Swan River. It was only 14km but it took us 45mins  as there were 3 different running/riding events along our way today. Heaps of people on the paths and we had to stop for some of them.

Monday
1km sprint on the treadmill for warm up
Arm, shoulders, back weight session
Ab workout

Tuesday
1.15km elliptical warm up
Legs, butt and abs weights session
20min Elliptical workout - 4.15km
Body Balance class
Afternoon bike ride around the Swan River with my Ride to Conquer Cancer team buddy - 22km

Wednesday
Rest Day!

Thursday
1.1km treadmill sprint (5min)
Legs, glute and abs weight session

To take a week off every 6 weeks or not? What say you???
More importantly - wanna donate me some moolah??? Come on, it's for a great cause!! Beating cancers butt!!

If you've been following me on facebook you may or may not know that I have registered for a 220km bike ride  for the Perth Ride to Conquer Cancer in 2013. This is a cause close to my heart as I have lost some very special people to this horrible disease. As part of my entry I need to fund raise a minimum of $2500 to take part in the actual ride. I really hate asking for donations but I've been told that it's the only way! Do you have a spare $2? Every little bit helps. All money raised will go directly to support cancer patients and their families and all donations $2 and over are tax deductible. Thank you!!

....and then there was one.

We had a death in the family yesterday

One of our hens went to the pearly white gates of chicken heaven*

RIP Kim

She had a good life. Plenty of fresh scraps, gardens to destroy scratch in and an abundance of wild mice to chase away from her food.

Kim now leaves Kath (the chooky neck one) all by herself.

Now we ask ourselves "buy another one or send Kath off to a retirement village** and reclaim that part of our yard?"

Kath is our oldest chook. We "rescued" her from an egg farm. The egg farm man laughed at me and told me she would only lay for another few weeks. That was over 4 years ago and she still lays! She laid 2 yesterday after Kim died.

She has her off seasons when it's too cold or too hot. Problem is that she doesn't lay enough to feed a family of 6 so on top of buying chook food I still need to buy eggs.

Do you own chooks?

Should I ship her off and reclaim my garden (I'm thinking a veggie patch) or buy another hen or two??

*No we didn't kill her. She died of unkown causes. Old age maybe? We didn't eat her either.
**Retirement Village = friends who own a property and a huge big chicken coop

The winds of change are blowing! (Alternative title - Mr Hausfrau is now a blogger)

I smell change in the air....

Remember Mr Hausfrau's addiction?? Remember how I thought it wouldn't last but I was proven wrong?? Remember how he  sucked Random Boy into the cult that is Battle Pirates???

Well it finally happened.

It's been replaced.

With a blog.

Yep.

This morning after our Sunday bike ride, and after his earlier than usual "nanna nap", I fielded a few unusual (unusual for him) questions from him.

"Where did you get your font from for your blog?"
"Do you remember my gmail email password?"
"What do you use to access google+? Your real name of your blogs name?"

Huh????

Then a little light bulb switched on over my head!

"Um honey? Are you starting your own blog??"

"Maybe" he says, with a silly little grin on his face...

Lord help me!

So without further adieu I give you

Mr Hausfrau (who will remain Mr Hausfrau for the time being on my blog) is now...

Der Scharfschütze - Aka "The Sharp Shooter"

This is Mr Hausfrau's take on a German living in Australia and everything in between!

So not exactly a German Aussie "Daddy Blogger", not quite defined yet. He is still finding his way.

I'm just hoping that this is the end of the other addiction! Best not pop that champagne just yet me thinks......But pass me a wine anyway, I'm going to need it!

At breakfast this morning after our bike ride

If you blog, does your husband blog too??

Fitness Freak Friday - Week 11 - The one where I feel tired, oh so tired.

Feeling very slack this week. Running has taken a back seat until I can get my hands on some new shoes. My current ones are very worn and crap and non supportive. Did I mention that they're crap?

Every day around 12 noon I feel like I hit a wall. The yawning starts and I feel ready to put my pyjamas on and call it a night day!

On the positive side, my muscles, omg my muscles. I'm seeing muscles that I never knew I had! Hello six pack! My upper body is getting scary too. Might be time to take a progress photo. Kicking myself that I don't have a "before" photo to compare with.

I've upped the weights a little. Time to up the cardio a little just to burn a teensy bit of fat that's made itself at home on body ;)

But I know what I need to do. Yep, change what I'm eating. Oh don't get me wrong, I don't eat crap... But I do partake in a glass of wine most nights and I've been known to eat the occasional cake or three.

So this is what exercise looked like in my past week.....

Friday
45min on the Elliptical machine - a nice pace as my ear is all yuck. 8.32km

Saturday
Early morning cycle with my Ride to Conquer Cancer team mate. 21km

Sunday
Finally gave in and went to the doctors about my ear.
Sinusitis. Bugger!
Spent the afternoon doing gardening though - totally counts as exercise!
Monday
1km sprint on the treadmill for warm up
Arm, shoulders, back weight session
Ab workout
30min on the Elliptical machine
2km run with PrincessBF after school. She has cross country tomorrow

Tuesday
1km elliptical warm up
Legs, glute and abs weights session
30min Elliptical workout - 5.75km
Body Balance class

Wednesday
Rest Day!

Thursday
1km Elliptical warm up sprint
Legs, glute and abs weight session
3km hill walk - moderate pace - 30min + cool down

What's your diet like? Do you "eat clean"? I mean really really clean??
More importantly - what tricks do you have to beat the midday sleepy time feeling??

Fitness Freak Friday - Week 10 - Mr Hausfrau is home, all is well in the world again.

Mr Hausfrau came home from his half work half play trip to Germany this week...

I was just a teensy bit excited to see him!

I spent Friday and Saturday kid free before he got home so on Good Friday I went for a nice ride down the highway to the freeway. The amount of traffic banked up on the freeway trying to get out of town. Not moving. Jammed - was a sight to behold! On Saturday I got all my exercise out of the way early so that my afternoon was free to go pick up my man!!

So this is what my last week looked like .....

Friday
35km bike ride

Saturday
1 hour on the Elliptical machine (11.75km)
15 minutes on the treadmill - slow paced hill walk - on the highest incline - 1.3km
Ab workout

Sunday
3.33km run
3.33km elliptical
10.4km ride

Monday
1.5km elliptical warm up
Arm, shoulders, back weight session
Ab workout
2km sprint on the treadmill - 10min
Cool down walk

Tuesday
1km elliptical warm up
Legs and glute weights session
5km cool down ride
Body Balance class

In the afternoon I caught up with my fellow team member for The Ride to Conquer Cancer and we went for a nice paced 21.6km ride around the Swan River

Wednesday

Rest Day!
Need it! I think I'm getting an ear infection. Boo :(

Thursday
1km warm up sprint (5min)
500m walk (5min)
45min weight session - legs/glutes/abs
2.5km hill walk - fast paced (20min)

How was your Easter?? Did you eat a lot of chocolate and hot crossed buns??? I did!
