Mr Hausfrau told me to spend the day on Pinterest!

Mr Hausfrau told me to spend the day on Pinterest!!!

Actually what he really said was "spend the day making lists of ideas for the house makeover" but it's kinda the same thing right??

You see we are about to come into some money.

I'd love to tell you that we won the lotto but it is more a situation of the nice man at the bank throwing some cash our way in exchange to the promise of them taking our house if we don't pay. Sucker.

Exciting times ahead. If all goes to plan the next few months should see us with.......

New floors. Goodbye crappy hurts to walk on with no cushioning carpet and ripped holey lino and hello to hard wood floors and plush carpets.

New walls. Goodybye cracked and flaky paint and hello fresh paint in great new colours.

New windows. Goodybe ripped fly screen and hello to crimsafe security screens and nice new curtains.

New airconditioning and heating. Goodbye cold winters and hot summers and hello to ducted reverse cycle aircon!

New car. Goodbye faitfull old Land Cruiser, you've done us well. Hello zippy new Volkswagen!

and the most exciting part........ *drum roll please*

A NEW FREAKING KITCHEN!!!!

Goodbye wasted space cupboards and broken oven. Hello brand spanking new kitchen with clever storage solutions and a real working oven!

I'm so freaking excited.

I'd love to hang around and chat. Can't. Pinning to do.

If you've been following me on facebook you may or may not know that I have registered for a 220km bike ride  for the Perth Ride to Conquer Cancer in 2013. This is a cause close to my heart as I have lost some very special people to this horrible disease. As part of my entry I need to fund raise a minimum of $2500 to take part in the actual ride. I really hate asking for donations but I've been told that it's the only way! Do you have a spare $2? Every little bit helps. All money raised will go directly to support cancer patients and their families and all donations $2 and over are tax deductible. Thank you!!

Dear Parents of Teenage Girls. Gather 'Round....

Please watch this

I draw your attention to the 9 second mark.

Go on. Go watch it again. I'll wait.

Now, I ask you. Is that really truly the face of an "upset teenage girl"??

??????

Dear Vanish Napisan PR people. I invite you to come and spend a week at my house to see what an upset teenage girl actually looks like, 'cause I guarantee you that a normal upset teenage girl looks nothing like that!

If that is their idea of a teenage girl being "so upset" I'd love to see how they'd portray one that is in the throes of a bitchy moody hormone riddled PMS'y week. You know, one who snaps at you for the slightest thing, back chats when asked to do something and blames you for every possible thing that goes wrong in their life that week - or maybe that is just my little Princess BitchFace darling.

That. Up there. Is PrincessBF on a good day. She'd have a lot more to say than just pulling a slight grimace on her face if her favourite pair of white jeans were ruined. But I love her and wouldn't have her any other way. For now.

Parents with teens. Is that how your teenage daughter behaves when she is "so upset"?

Really truly?

Acutally, don't tell me. I don't want to know.

Unless of course your daughter is more like my devil child and then comment away and make me feel better.

ATTACK OF THE GREEN EYED MONSTER - or the lesser known title of "Why I'm likely to be bitchy to Mr Hausfrau in March"

By now you all know why I'm the Aussie "Hausfrau" don't you??

No?

Ok here's the low down!

Mr Hausfrau is German. I'm Australian born and bred. I'm married to him. I'm The Aussie Hausfrau.

haus·frau

Noun
  1. A German housewife.
  2. A woman regarded as *overly efficient.

*I'm pretty sure they screwed up with point 2. I'm definitely NOT "overly efficient"

Get it now? Haus is German for House. Frau is German for Wife/Mrs/Woman

Hausfrau = House Wife

Phew. I'm glad we have that sorted.

So if you follow me on Facebook you may remember a couple of weeks back I was "Sipping on French Champagne and celebrating Mr Hausfrau's awesome news"

Well the lucky bugger **won a trip to Germany through his work! Sans me!!! That part I can handle, you know, 'cause it's a "work trip" and I'm a supportive wife and all that crap. BUT while there he's taking an extra week or so off and will be off to visit MY Schwiegermutter (Mother in Law) and MY Schwiegerbruder and his family (Brother in Law) AND MY Schwiegervater and family (Father in Law) AND I'M AS JEALOUS AS ALL BUGGERY!!!

IT'S NOT FAIR GOD DAMMIT!!
*breathe*

(Yes yes, it's his family. I know. I know. But I love them like my own!)

We had plans of me meeting him over there once his "business trip" is finished but alas, it just ain't doable. Things don't line up with kids v's their Dad taking them v's school holidays v's my Mum being off work.

So off he flys in 4 weeks time off to the land of beer and pretzels. Without me. For two weeks. Without me. By himself. Without me.

I'm thinking many a fight will be picked in the lead up. By me. I'm good like that.

In the meantime I'm milking it. Most conversations start like this. "Hey honey, you know how you're going to Germany soon. Can you please (insert whatever I need/want here)"

I'm also making a list of everything I want need brought back.

1. Black Forest ham. The real Black Forest ham.
2. A million gazillion pretzels
3. German beer and wine. At least 2 cases of each.
4. Wurstsalat. Lots and lots of Wurstsalat.
5.
6.
7.
8.
9.

On the positive side. Guess who gets full use of the remote control and the entire space of the king size bed for 2 weeks?? ME! It's going to be fanfeckingtastic.

Now, if I can just stop that green eyed monster from roaring so much!

Would you be jealous too??
More importantly - can you think of anything I can add to my list?

**As much as I'm super jealous I am also super duper proud of my spunky man. He won this trip because his car dealership was the 3rd best (for his brand) in the whole wide space of Australia for 2012!! Please also know that this is all written in jest. I'm not a cold hearted biatch and Mr Hausfrau read all this before it was published. Tongue in cheek people, tongue in cheek ;)

Pirates have my boys held hostage!

Very sleath like, maybe even Ninja style, I snuck into Random Boys room to retrive my laptop so I could join in on todays #IBOT (That's I Blog On Tuesdays if you're not familar. It's hosted by the one and only Jess from Essentially Jess. If you've never been you really should stop by and have a gander! The recent #IBOT is here)

So where was I? Oh yes. Ninja style.

You see, I needed to steal my laptop back as Random Boy has pretty much held it hostage since the beginning of the holidays.

Why?

Oh let me tell you!

Remember waaaaay back in the beginning of October last year when I told you about Mr Hausfrau's new addiction? Then at the end of October when I was forced to eat my words?

No? Ok well I'll wait here and enjoy my laptops return while you head off and catch up! (Links are just above)

(for those too busy to play the catch up game I'll give you the quick low down. Mr Hausfrau started playing a stupid facebook game called Battle Pirates which I nicknamed Butt Pirates. In the past these little addictions never really lasted more than a week or two so I wasn't worried but by the end of October I knew that I had been mistaken! But you really should go read up on it - I'm pretty sure I wrote it funnier than that last year)

Ok - all caught up? Good.

So what's this got to do with Random Boy?

Well it seems that Mr Hausfrau, after almost 4 fecking months of the stupid game is still hooked AND he has now sucked Random Boy into playing too!!

I've now lost both of my boys to the pirates! *sob*

Random Boy playing Butt Pirates under the experienced instructions of Mr Hausfrau

Just for the record. I wrote this post this morning at 8am - then my laptop was stolen back and I'm only just getting to finish and click publish now at 1250!! Someone had to check his ships!!

Mr Hausfrau if you're reading this I'd like an iPad for my birthday please!

I'm a Blogger???

I think I might actually be a Blogger! Why do I think this? On Saturday night I attended my first ever Blogger get together! To celebrate Christmas!

I was sooo nervous! Like Annaleis from Teapots and Tractors said "It's like going on a blind date!" - and it was! Totally.

So off I went with my Secret Santa present, chilled BYO bottle of wine, my glam on and my nerves to Elies Tent, a local Lebanese restaurant, ready to meet some people I'd only ever read their blogs and  shared some tweets and facebook comments with.

I felt a little bit like a fraud being surrounded by so many awesome WA bloggers!!

Wines to calm my nerves were needed.

I had a GREAT night!!

There was food. Yummy food.

There was belly dancing. With a sword!!

There were laughs.

*This would be where I should insert the photo of Yvette and Annalies belly dancing!! But I won't ;)*

Then there were presents!!!!

Jules from The Bumpiest Path gave us the cutest little Christmas candles! I don't want to put a match to it!

My Secret Santa gift was for Yvette from Little Bento Blog.

Note to self - next time go with your first hunch and just buy her the damn Ninja cookie cutters!!

This is the present that I received.

A scarf!!! I love it!!

A big thanks to Taryn from This is Taryn for my gorgeous scarf! I love scarves and I love this colour!!

I had the pleasure of sitting next to Annalies and Yvette as well as Rhonda from Silly Mummy, Chantel from Bossy Mummy and Jayne from Writing Without Pay

So many others that I didn't get the chance to chat more to - Next time for sure!

I had a blast!!

At the end of the night I even scored a bottle of Pinot Noir Chardonnary from Thorn-Clarke Wines.

Cant wait to crack it open and celebrate the fact that maybe I really am. a. blogger??

Who knew!

My Ride to Conquer Cancer

Sorry, I don't mean to offend anyone, but really... f#ck cancer!!

I was 8 when cancer first visited my family. The year was 1986 and I remember seeing my Dad very upset and telling me that he had to fly to Melbourne. His sister had lost her battle with bone cancer. I was too young to remember her as we lived in North Queensland and she was in Victoria but I remember how it hurt my Dad.

In 1992 cancer struck again and I lost part of my heart. My Mums sister, my beloved Aunty, lost her battle with cancer. She had Hodgkin's lymphoma, a cancer of the lymph tissue. She was only 30 years young.

I was 14 when she died and I'd watched her suffer for over 2 years. I remember feeling so helpless that I couldn't help her.

She was a very special part of my life.

It sucks but I don't have any photos of Aunty other than these old ones. No such thing as digital cameras back then and all the old photo albums are with her kids now. She didn't like photos in the last few years of her life anyway :(

My weekends were spent at her place. Riding horses and running amok! She taught me to drive, took me where ever I wanted to go and pretty much spoilt me rotten!

She left behind 4 kids. 4 year old twins girls, a 6 year old daughter and an 8 year old son. Four children would grow up without a Mum and I lost my gorgeous Aunty.

Life went on. Somehow.

Then 4 days into the new millennium in 2000 my Granddads body couldn't take any more and cancer took another member of my family. This time is was bowel cancer. He was only diagnosed 6 weeks earlier. I was 7 months pregnant and he was 46 days short of meeting his first ever great grand child. My Nanna was to be a widow, my Mum and my other Aunty lost their Dad and me, my siblings and my cousins were without a Granddad.

Cancer had taken yet another member of my family and it sucked! But what could I do? I was young and didn't really know anything.

Now that I'm older and as fit as I've ever been I think it's time to give back! I heard about The Ride to Conquer Cancer for 2012 but not with enough time to fund-raise.

The one for 2013 is different! Way different! I have 354 days left to do it!

The Ride to Conquer Cancer is a cycling journey throughout the scenic countryside of Western Australia that I'm embarking on to fight cancer. It will be a challenge in a number of ways, but with my bike, my helmet, and hopefully, maybe, possibly, your generosity, a real impact can and will be made!

Funds raised in The Ride to Conquer Cancer will help support ground breaking  critical cancer research being undertaken at the Western Australian Institute for Medical Research (WAIMR), Western Australias premier adult medical research institute, investigating the genetic and environmental causes of a range of diseases.

I'm doing this in honour of my family members lost to this horrid disease and to give others the opportunity for more time with their special people!

As part of my entry I need to fund raise a minimum of $2500 to take part in the actual ride. I really hate asking for donations but I've been told that it's the only way! Do you have a spare $2? Every little bit helps. Any donations, however big or small will go a long way to supporting this amazing cause. All money raised will go directly to support cancer patients and families.

Your donation will be paid directly into a WAIMR bank account, so funds will be available for its immediate use. There will be no need to wait until the event is over for the presentation of a big cardboard cheque.

WAIMR is registered with the Australian Taxation Office as a Deductible Gift Recipient, so everyone who donates $2 or more will receive a Tax Receipt.

I'm hoping to also hunt down a few big sponsors in the way of Perth businesses  If you have any other ideas or experience with fund raising large amounts of money I would absolutely LOVE to hear them!! I'm thinking car washes and sausage sizzles. What else???

Please click here or any picture above to donate!

Please feel free to share my plea for help!

Big smooshy thank you kisses in advance!!
